WEAVING - PILLOWS!
Is two your lucky number? It is with this class! Join Lofty Lou Lady Cindee La Joure as she teaches you two new weaving styles while you weave two decorative pillow covers using two yarns. One pillow will be woven using a clasped weft technique and the other pillow in an offset Danish medallion pattern. While these are slower weave patterns than plain weave, the results are beautiful. Clasped Weft weaving is a plain weave with doubled-up wefts in contrasting colors. The key to the effect is that the wefts are interlocked, creating unique effects. You can use clasped weft to make random lines of color or random shapes, or you can be more strategic and build up geometric shapes. Danish Medallion weaving is a finger-controlled technique where sections of warp and weft are grouped together to create a pattern. This weave structure uses a third thicker yarn weft to draw the fabric up into medallion shapes. Both pillow covers are woven on one warp. Seam sewing and optional zipper not done in class. The class is open to students who have taken Weaving 101 or know how to load a loom. The instructor will provide loaner looms for the class. Must pre-register for this class, to receive necessary special instructions. Class fee: $75 Check back for more classes this spring. |
